Book club - The Rosie Project

Friday evening I started off the weekend meeting up with some of my book club crew. Book club has been the best excuse to read a good book, chat with friends, and have a few drinks!! For me, I have always loved to read. One of my favorite things to do growing up in Augusta was to go to the library . The librarian was like family to me. Her daughter was one of my best friends so we spent a lot of time at the library!  I thank them for my love of a good book. There is nothing better then getting lost in another world !

Lisa, Jayme, Erin, Jessica, and myself met up at Barleycorns. We read The Rosie Project by Graeme Simsion. One of my fave things about book club, besides the laughs we have, is reading books I wouldn't necessarily read. The Rosie Project is definitely one of those books. I had a hard time getting into it. But by the middle of the book I couldn't put it down. The main character , Don, was extremely likable. I felt myself rooting for him as he went on the hunt for the "perfect wife" and then for him and Rosie!

If you are in need of a good book I would definitely recommend this one. Don't give up after the first few chapters. This is the first book in a series and I am going to read the second. I am not ready to say goodbye to Don and Rosie!

I went on Amazon to find a better description of this book! Here is what I found:

with warmth, emotional depth, and…humor,” (Entertainment Weekly) featuring the oddly charming, socially challenged genetics professor, Don, as he seeks true love.

The art of love is never a science: Meet Don Tillman, a brilliant yet socially inept professor of genetics, who’s decided it’s time he found a wife. In the orderly, evidence-based manner with which Don approaches all things, he designs the Wife Project to find his perfect partner: a sixteen-page, scientifically valid survey to filter out the drinkers, the smokers, the late arrivers.

Rosie Jarman possesses all these qualities. Don easily disqualifies her as a candidate for The Wife Project (even if she is “quite intelligent for a barmaid”). But Don is intrigued by Rosie’s own quest to identify her biological father. When an unlikely relationship develops as they collaborate on The Father Project, Don is forced to confront the spontaneous whirlwind that is Rosie―and the realization that, despite your best scientific efforts, you don’t find love, it finds you.

If you are in need of a good book I would definitely recommend it. Don't give up after the first few chapters. This is the first book in a series and I am going to read the second. I am not ready to say goodbye to Don and Rosie!

I would love to hear some of your book recommendations! Oh and if you want to join along on a virtual book club our next book is by Laird Hunt called Neverhome.

Happy reading ya'll!
