Playroom makeover

We have been in our house, I think, 5 years next month. FINALLY, we turned our 4th bedroom, aka the junk room, into the kids play room. There were some days you couldn't even walk in this room because of all the clutter and junk that somehow just got pitched into it. Because messes make me super anxious, I just shut the door and pretended it didn't exist. I am a huge fan if you can't see it there just isn't a mess. Don't ever look under our beds. Oh, and the most hated by Nick, my "junk drawers".   I was over the kids bringing all their toys downstairs into the living room and then "hiding" the mess behind the couches. It was time to crap or get off the pot and with Meredith's 8th birthday/First Communion party coming up at the end of April, now seemed like the perfect time. Unfortunately finding the time for Nick to paint and put all my design ideas in place always proves to be the most challenging. Yay for a day off this week while both kids were at school and he was able to bust this project out of the ballpark!

I was able to stalk Pinterest and Etsy and find some ideas on what I wanted our playroom to look like. Here are a few.

On etsy I found some prints I knew I wanted to hang in the playroom as well.

We both said this is now our favorite room in the whole house. I wish I had before pics to give this play room the justice it deserves.   Now we can mark this project off my "house project" list. We (and when I say "we" I really mean Nick!! He won't let me paint. lol) finished the kitchen makeover and laundry makeover this past winter. I want to finish the kids rooms up with some small changes (Target had the cutest new line come out recently so we snapped up Meredith new bedding for her birthday), our bedroom needs pics hung on walls to get it that finished look, and I need to update our patio with some new furniture and plants.

Finished project! It is the perfect spot for the kids to hang out, watch tv, play the Nintendo, and play with all their toys! Hope ya'll enjoy!

Meredith wanted a tv for her birthday. We weren't on board with the idea of having a tv in her bedroom. Max would want to be in there and she is into the "needing her space" lately. Even though her birthday isn't until May 1st, Nick decided we could go ahead and give it to her. But the deal was it had to go in the play room.

I took one of the many art projects Meredith brought home from school and framed it. Love the little personal touch! And we all need a little Jesus in any room!!

I think this might be one of my favorite walls! At first I didn't have the game boards hanging up. But the wall just felt incomplete.

Who is the bigger kid? I am not sure!
Matchbox cars now have the perfect home. Of course, we have probably 100 more!
Even Sophie thinks this room is a good hangout spot!!
