life lately

Ya'll can you believe it is already November? We are going to blink and Christmas morning will be upon us. I feel like I am slacking on the ole blog posting . Life has been crazy and stressful lately. By the time I am done working my 4 days at my big girl job and then home for wife and mommy duty and dealing with some not fun things I am ready for bed when I put the kids to bed! But I have so many ideas swirling in my head. Maybe soon I will get them out! Until then here is what we have been up to!

We were super busy this past weekend with two trips to Augusta and a soccer tournament and some other fun things thrown in.

Friday we got the weekend started with our Halloween themed game night! I haven't dressed up in forever and was a little nervous in how my costume would turn out since I was a little last minute in getting it together. I spent my lunch break Friday at work cutting out the Operation game pieces on felt. That was probably the hardest part of the costume. I had to google the pieces online and then draw them on the white felt, glue those pieces to the red felt , and then cut around the shape of the pieces. I wore red shorts, a nude color long sleeve shirt, nude panty hose. I attached the game pieces to my shirt and panty hose with small gold safety pins. I was worried about the safety pins tearing the hose, but there was no tears at all! I loved all the costumes that our crew wore! Nick was my doctor!!

The beginnings of my Operation costume!

Saturday bright and early we had to be at the soccer field for Meredith's soccer tournament. She didn't want to get up either. She had a birthday party the night before. Momma and daughter were a little partied out and struggled when the alarm went off. But we made it! She won her first game. We skipped the 2nd game because my nephew turned ONE! We drove to Augusta for his birthday party at the city park. It was a gorgeous day. After the party we walked around town and by the river. The town was decorated for Halloween. I would have loved to stay longer because they had their annual Ghost tour and Halloween party at the local Pub. There is always next year, right?!

My brother and the birthday boy

Sunday we were back at the soccer field. They had 2 games. It was the last day of soccer for the season. I love watching Mere play. She has come such a long way from the little girl at 4 yrs old who wouldn't let go of my leg and practice with the other players on her team and would cry at the games because she didn't want people looking at her. Now she is this little fierce player! I am so proud of her. Plus her team is full of such talent! Watching these girls has been fun this year. We had a break between the games so Max wanted to have a picnic by the pond near soccer fields. The weather this weekend could not have been more perfect. We need to soak it up while we can. Soon the dreaded S word will be upon us! And boy do I hate snow and winter. We were done with soccer in time to drive to Augusta again for Trick or Treat. Augusta does trick or treating the Sunday before Halloween. It has been this way since I was a kid. I even think my dad was the one who started this while he was mayor years and years ago. My kids love trick or treating with their cousins. I look forward to going down as well and walking around with our little group. I love seeing all my friends I grew up with now walking their little ones as well. Augusta is packed with people during trick or treat. The amount of people is unreal! Meredith dressed up as a Zombie Baby and my little Max was Chase from paw patrols!  We ordered pizza afterwards, watched some of the UK game , and got the kids in their pj's before driving back. Talk about a jam packed weekend. I figure I can rest when I am dead!!

Monday on Halloween I was off. Meredith's school celebrates All Saints Day each year by doing a Saint parade. Each student picks a saint and dresses up as their saint. They then do the rosary walking the school grounds. Afterwards, the classes had their Harvest parties. Max and I helped with the party and had a good time. I think Meredith was happy I was there. It's so hard being a working mom and missing out on field trips and class parties. So when I am actually off on one of these I need to go. After school the kids took it easy to gear up for round 2 of trick or treating in our neighbor hood. We were invited to one of Max's little friend's house from school. The parents were nice enough to invite us for pizza beforehand and then walk around together. We had a good time! The kids didn't last very long though. I think they were worn out from the weekend. Plus they wanted to pass out candy to the trick or treaters. I can say I wasn't sad about it. I was ready for my jammies and bed!

Now with trick or treat officially over it's time to get in the Christmas spirit. The Christmas season is seriously one of my favorites of the year. (Already have the Christmas music station on in the car!!!)  I love Christmas shopping for the kid and seeing their excitement. They have already compiled their Christmas wishlists for Santa! Santa is on it! I want to do the Polar Express train ride this year with them as well as take Meredith to see the Nutcracker ballet. I thought that would be a fun girl's day!! Time to start planning more fun!!
