We have talked about doing a garden for the last several summers. I don’t know what has stopped us. Normally time has just gotten away from us and then it’s like what’s the point. Not this year!! The best part is the kids were excited to have one too. I added this to our summer bucket list and can now check it off!! Nick bought the plants and got to planting them when we arrived back from our trip to Charleston! I, of course, supervised! I do not have a green thumb! It is up to Mere to keep the garden alive and watered on days Nick is at the fire house ! She has done a great job so far. We planted tomatoes, onion, red peppers, strawberries, and some mint. I know I am forgetting a few things but for sure planted those. Growing up we never had a garden but my grandparents did. We spent most evenings there for dinner and there was always fresh green beans, juicy tomatoes , wilted lettuce and more. Here’s hoping ours produces a good haul!

Mud Run
Have you ever signed yourself up for something or made a commitment and then think what the hell have I gotten myself in to? Raise your hand if you're with me lol. Well, this was me from the time I signed up for a 5 mile mud run until the day of the race. I kept thinking I had lost my ever living mind. I was getting anxious and super nervous. I really hadn't done much to prepare myself for 5 miles of what I figured was going to be hell. I was still doing my every day workout routine which wasn't anything besides a little cardio and a little strength training . But nothing that was going to prepare me for the mud run.
I woke up the day of the race ready to go though. I was ready to get it over with. I had myself believing I was not going to be able to do it and it was going to be pure hell....and possibly dying in the process. Thankfully the group I was with made me feel better and by the time it started I changed my tune. It wasn't easy but I kept repeating over and over in my head that I can do it. I had to repeat it often. I think it was the hardest thing I have ever gotten myself into. But I finished and had so much fun in the process. I am thrilled we decided to do it and even happier that Nick was by my side the whole time! I am ready to do another one....... well after my muscles are not sore anymore lol!!

Summer Bucket List
Hello June and Summer! Each summer I like to come up with a bucket List . The kids and I love looking at it and planning out all the fun and then checking it off once we do it. So far I have a few things planned.
1. FC Cincinnati soccer game: we have yet to make one of these games but I have been wanting to take the kids especially Mere.
2. Florence Freedom game: cheaper way to see a baseball game with a play area for the kids!
3. Kentucky lake trip: I think I have narrowed down a trip to one of Kentucky's beautiful lakes. In the lead is Prizer Point Resort on Lake Barkley. They have lots of choices for lodging including the cutest little floating cabins.
4. Augusta: For the last several summers the kids and I pack up and drive the hour down the AA and spend several days at "home" in Augusta. There is nothing like stepping back in time to my childhood days and letting your own kiddos experience it!
5. Fishing: not something we do a lot but when we do the kids enjoy it.
6. Fireworks: another trip to Augusta. There is no where else I love to celebrate the 4th than here.
7. Lots of popsicles and ice cream: well summer time and something cold go hand in hand
8. Camping: plan a trip to tent camp.
9. Canoeing: we did this at the end of last summer and we had a blast
10. Quiet time: who doesn't yearn for this?
11. Strawberry picking : who doesn’t love strawberries in the summer? What better way to enjoy them then to go pick your own. I remember seeing last year on Facebook there was a farm near by. Sure enough I found Red Barn Farm In Dry Ridge! I am looking forward to taking the kids. Maybe Mere and I will bust out our overalls for the experience lol!
So what else do I need to add to this list? What are your summer plans? Saturday's will be our Farmers Market day. I love going first thing in the morning and picking out fresh veggies! Also the kids love the Jurassic Park movies and the new one comes out in a few weeks. We also normally go on a summer vacation but are trying to plan a December Disney Vacation! I love filling our days with fun stuff.

Life Lately {April & May}
Life has been so busy and crazy lately. From Spring Break to the last week of school, it has passed in a flash. Now it is June! Yikes! I was so sad to see the school year end but only for one reason. It means Mere is another year older , will be in 5th grade, and Max in kindergarten in the fall. My momma heart just isn't ready for that. However, I am over the business that May brings with it for school. We had tons of soccer games, family day, Mere's birthday, my dad's 9 year anniversary, Mother's Day, lots of field trips, field day, Max's preschool graduation and more. I have barely been able to keep up with it all. On top of that I have picked up a few 3rd shifts at work. It will all be worth it come Sunday when Nick and I head to Charleston for a 2 day getaway.....with NO KIDS! All the praise hands! Sharing a little recap of life lately! I kind of took a blog break. I love it because I love to write and can use that part of my brain. But have been so overwhelmed I took a break. Hope to get back on a constant blogging schedule plus a new design! Warning.....picture overload about to happen!
I have no idea how 9 years have passed since I last saw my dad. Some days I can pretend we are both super busy and haven't been able to talk. Other days it hits me like a ton of bricks right in the gut. It makes me terribly bitter that my kids miss out on an amazing grandfather. Luckily they have my mom who picks up the slack and is amazing in her own right!
Not sure how this girl turned 10:( It has gone by so fast and makes me so sad. I just want to bottle these kids up and make them stop growing.
We celebrated Mere's birthday right after one of her soccer games. Of course it rained! But we are thankful for our friends and family who came to celebrate her anyway!
My baby is going to be in Kindergarten:( He was so cute during his program!
Field day! And I love these sandals from Target in rose gold. They are just as good as the more expensive Birkenstocks. Comfortable and cheap!! Win , win!!
Last day of 4th grade:(
Meredith receive a $1000 scholarship towards tuition next year.
Enjoyed a day at the zoo with my wild man!
Mere was in a soccer tourney Memorial Day and her team won!! I have loved watching Mere grow as a player this year!
Water balloon fight with Max
I am ready to have a great summer. I have been working on a bucklist . I try to do one each summer! The kids love putting a check mark by each fun thing we do! What is on everyone else's bucket list? Have a great weekend friends and say a little prayer for me. Doing a Mud Run with a group of friends and the husband. I am terrified to say the least haha!!
