Summer time is the perfect time to pick up a good book and get lost in someone else's story....all by laying by the pool (or beach). Oh who am I kidding. I have to watch my kids like a hawk. On the off chance Nick is with me though I like to bring along a good book. Also, with school out, there is no homework, so instead we can read a book instead of doing crazy math problems that I have no idea how to do. I have gathered my list of books I plan on reading.
1. Me Before You by JoJo Moyes
2. What She Knew by Gilly Macmilan
3. The Lake House by Kate Morton
4. Time is a River by Mary Alice Monroe
5. The Weekenders by Mary Kay Andrews
6. All Summer Long by Dorothea Benton Frank
7. If I Should Die Before I Wake by Han Nolan
8. The Girls of August by Anne Rivers Siddons
9. Go Set a Watchman by Harper Lee
10. Madeleine's War by Peter Watson
11. The Witches by Stacy Schiff
I can't wait to start reading some of these books by my favorite authors especially Mary Alice Monroe, Anne Rivers Siddons, and Dorothea Benton Frank. If you love a good book set in the Lowcountry of the South....Read these!! Charleston is the setting for a lot of their books, hence my obsession with them. I have also been enthralled with books set in Germany during World War 2. I read any book I can get my hand on that also tells a good story. I just finished a series called Sophia's War by Stephanie Baumgartner. There are 7 books in this series and each book is better than the last. So good I couldn't put them down and stayed up too late reading them. They were centered around a woman, Sophia, who was from the United States that went to Germany to help her aunt start a library in a little German town. Then the war started and she couldn't leave. There is also a love story when she meets a German named Adrian. I loved each book.
What's on your summer reading list? I love hearing what others are reading!
xoxo, Tracey
