Almost 6 years ago, Nick and I went on our first trip to Charleston. We decided to vacation there after I read a book and knew we would love it. I fell in love with this city as soon as we crossed the Ravenel Bridge and I could smell the bluff mud. When I say the sights, the smells, the views, the history infiltrated my soul, I am for real!!! Traveling to the Holy City once a year is not nearly enough. This year, because of Disney, will be the first since 2010 that we haven't traveled there. But I am scheming of ways to at least get in a short visit. I don't think I can go a whole year without visiting Charleston. I get asked all the time about what we do there, where to eat, and more. That first year I made a list (shocking, right??) of all the places to eat, visit, and do. I have shared this many times. When I started the blog, I knew I would dedicate several posts to this! So stay tuned for all the ins and outs on my favorite city!!
Charleston (circa 2010)
“Charleston has a landscape that encourages intimacy and partisanship. I have heard it said that an inoculation to the sights and smells of the Carolina lowcountry is an almost irreversible antidote to the charms of other landscapes, other alien geographies. You can be moved profoundly by other vistas, by other oceans, by soaring mountain ranges, but you can never be seduced. You can even forsake the lowcountry, renounce it for other climates, but you can never completely escape the sensuous, semitropical pull of Charleston and her marshes.”
