Camping {Little Farm on the River}

This past weekend we camped with my brother and his family at Little Farm on the River. It is a little getaway in Indiana's farm county and minutes from Aurora and Rising Sun. This bi-level campground sets along the shores of the Ohio River and their 1 acre pond. If you don't have an RV or don' t want to "rough it" in a tent, you can rent one of their 4 cabins. There are lots of amenities here.... a swimming pool (which is super nice for a pool! if it had been summer we would have definitely been here), snack shack, 2 pavilions, 2 playgrounds (our kiddos loved them), miniature golf, craft time, basketball, and hay rides. For only $35 a day you can also rent a golf cart. Mere begged and begged us to rent one! Honestly we didn't need one. It was easy to walk any where we needed to go. Also, they have tons of themed weekends throughout the year! Ya'll know I love a theme and to decorate!! Each weekend in October is their Halloween weekends with Trick or treat on Saturday's starting at 6p with a costume contest!! Here you can find a calender of events for 2016 to get an idea for next year on all the fun things Little Farm has to offer.

Last weekend, on our way to Meredith's soccer game, we passed a camper with a "rent me" sign on it! We had already made reservations for the October weekend at Little Farm. We were just planning on camping in a tent. We decided to call the number on the sign and see what the price was. After talking to the owner and checking it out after work one day, we decided it was perfect. It was inexpensive for a motorhome in our books. Plus it was fully stocked with all your cooking supplies like pots, pans, silverware, plates, bowls, and cups. There was plenty of room for all of us! Ya'll this was so much easier and way better than tent camping! We may have gotten spoiled haha.

A little peek inside. I forgot to get pics of the camper!

For insurance purposes the owner drove the camper to our site and set it all up. Nick met him there and it was already to go in under an hour. I picked Meredith up from school and the kids and I headed there right after and Nate followed soon after. Friday was super low key. We set up outside and inside the motorhome. Then sat by the fire most of the evening while the boys played in the big ole puddles and Mere played with Bensyn! The girl loves babies!!

Saturday we were up bright and early. Meredith had a soccer game. I was for sure it would get canceled since there had been some rain on Friday. But no luck. On the Brightside the girls pulled off a win against a team that hadn't lost since 2015. It was a great but muddy game. Right after the game we went back to the campground. We were lazy most of the afternoon but did manage to cook chili in the crockpot to eat before trick or treating. I can't believe how much I love camping. But it is so nice to sit back and relax around a fire, drink, read, and let the kids play. I spend so much of the week being stressed and rushed that I need more weekends like this! I found a Halloween craft for Mere, Max, and Bryce at the Dollar Section at Target. They painted a spider, witch, and pumpkin!

That evening we started getting the kids ready about an hour before trick or treating started. Trying to get a zombie baby, Chase the Paw Patrol, a little fireman and his Dalmatian ready is like an act of God. But we had them ready just in time! It was fun walking from each camp site to the next. Some campers went all out! Loved seeing all the Halloween decorations. We trick or treated for about an hour. We then took a wagon ride where you could trick or treat at the lower camp ground. We didn't get off though. We were trick or treated out and ready to head back to our camper and get our pj's on and relax around the fire. Lauren at one point said well at least we made it til 10 o'clock without being ready for bed. I then looked at my watch... it was only 8:40 lol! We can't hang like we use to haha. We got the kids in bed though and spent a few hours chatting!

The kids wouldn't get close to them ! Not even for candy! lol

Waiting on the wagon

 Sunday Nick got up and fixed us all breakfast while we all packed up!! The weekend went entirely too fast! Nick and I went and looked at campers a couple months ago and we're pretty sure we would get one but after this weekend I can say that possibility just doubled. I am not sure we will get another chance this fall to camp again. October is so busy with one thing or another. But this was the perfect way to end our first experience of camping for the year!!
