I took off the week of Meredith's Spring Break. This was the first year since she has been in school that I took the whole week off. Normally I will take off 2 or 3 and I thought the years are passing so quick. She is already in 4th grade that it was time to take the week off and spend with her and not pass from sitter to sitter. But in all honesty, lol, there were a few days I may have yelled at the kids that I should have just worked. They were driving me bat s..t crazy. Between the constant sibling fighting and back talking I was ready to lose my mind. I think it would have been better if the weather was cooperating. It was so cold and it felt like winter break! A lot of the things I had planned we couldn't do. Next time we are heading South!! We spent a few hours at the library one day.
We got ice cream at one of the new spots in town. (it was just ok. not my fave by far!!)

On Thursday we went hiking at the Natural Bridge. We went a couple years ago and loved it. Our day started out a little chilly but it gradually warmed up. We took the skylift up to the bridge and hiked down. It took us a little over 2 hours to make our way down. Mere and Max did fabulous. Little Max even walked the whole way. He normally makes his daddy carry him any time he has to walk a little distance.
We then checked into a hotel in Lexington for the night. I wanted the kiddos (and me if I am being totally up front) to feel like we had some sort of get a way. Nick and the kids swam while I read my book, dinner at Cracker Barrell, and more swimming to end the night.
The next day we promised the kids we would take them to Skyzone. We had never been but can't wait to go back. Nick and I had just as much fun as the kids. We had the weekend to recover before heading back to work.

ReplyDeleteSounds like a fun staycation! We did similar events due to his work schedule :( do you remember the name of the trail you took back down? We debated on it and ended up riding the lift down since we were uncertain with the kiddos.
ReplyDeleteI think it was the Laurel Ridge Trail. It says it is easy. lol I would not call it easy. But do able with 2 kids!
